A record rainfall of 1600mm over the year! (for memory 500mm in 2017 and normally 700mm on average per year).
The spring very rainy was real favourable to the attacks of mildew on grapes and leaves. Thanks to our vigilance we were able to protect the vines effectively and do not lose the crop. Summer was mild and the pressure exerted by the disease was less. A very beautiful crop was presented but sadly, the 14 august at 18:00, at ten days of harvest a very violent hail storm destroyed more than 30% of our nice harvest. Fortunately, the Mistral and the sun that followed have dried the grapes well and we were able to harvest in good conditions.
A complex soil with clay and sandstone coloured deep red by the iron oxide, refreshed by the salt air of the Mediterranean Sea. The soil is very well drained which improves the grapes quality.
Grapes varieties :
Grenache 20%, Syrah 10%, Cinsault 40% , Mourvèdre 15% et Tibouren 15%.
We wait that the grapes reach their maturity, and then we make the harvest early in the morning to keep the best temperature. We also have a cooling machine to refresh the grapes arriving in the cellar when the outside temperature is too hot so we keep the flavour inside the fruits and the quality is conserved.
The grapes are in concrete tanks for a brief maceration during few hours. They are being pressed after the maceration, then clarified and finally fermented. The temperature is controlled at all the different stages. (Around 12°C).
Pale salmon color. Fine nose of banana, apricot and dried fruit. The palate is balanced all rounded ending with notes of candied fruit. It is a perfect wine for aperitif and with grilled fish or meat.
